Episode 14: Your conflict resolution tool kit - approaching difficult situations with self-love
Hate conflict? Feel overwhelmed when something is out of alignment with a friend, colleague, family member or partner? Wish you had a step-by-step guide to dealing with tricky situations with self-love, clarity and confidence? Then this podcast is for you!
When you experience challenges with someone you care about, it affects your whole energy field. The self-loving approach is to take some action. Because this can be daunting, I’ve created a tool kit to help you approach challenging situations with grace.
Top Tips:
1. Emphasise that you’re speaking up because you care.
It’s important to begin communication by letting the other person know that you're speaking up because you care about your relationship with them. Make it clear that you want to remove any obstacles to being close so you can understand each other from a place of love.
2. Be open to being wrong.
If you frame things by saying that you’re open to being wrong or that you may have misinterpreted something, it helps to put the other person at ease by creating an atmosphere of receptiveness instead of defensiveness.
3. Avoid extreme language
I recommend avoiding extreme language like “you never do this” or “I never feel” or “you always say/do this”. Instead, try to use phrases like “I'm curious why” or “I'm just wondering if there might be a different way of approaching this” or “I’d love to hear your side of things”.
